Training and Seminar Programme Course: “Human Rights in Business and Human Rights Due Diligence” (Online and Onsite)

Background and Rationale

Respect for human rights is a fundamental element of responsible and sustainable business conduct. Following the completion of its Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) process, the Company aims to further strengthen the systematic integration of human rights principles into its business operations. Enhancing employees’ knowledge and understanding is therefore essential, enabling them to recognise human rights issues and risks, to understand their respective roles and responsibilities, and to appropriately apply human rights principles and international standards — such as the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the HRDD process — in the course of their work. This, in turn, will foster a corporate culture that respects human rights and supports sustainable business conduct.

Objectives

  • To build knowledge and understanding of human rights principles and standards, including the UNGPs and the Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) process.
  • To strengthen the knowledge and skills required to recognise, identify and manage human rights risks and impacts associated with day-to-day operations.
  • To enable employees to appropriately apply human rights principles in their work and in their engagement with stakeholders.

Training and Seminar Topics

  • An overview of global human rights trends and their relevance to the construction and infrastructure sector, together with pertinent case studies and stakeholder expectations of the business sector.
  • An explanation of the applicable international standards, laws and corporate commitments, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), the Company’s Human Rights Policy, the Code of Business Conduct, and the Company’s good corporate governance principles.
  • An explanation of the roles and responsibilities of employees and management in advancing the Company’s human rights commitments and in embedding respect for human rights into daily operations.
  • Enhanced understanding of the human rights risks that may arise in the course of work and business operations, including how to identify and respond to such issues and how to use the relevant grievance channels and remediation mechanisms.
  • Greater awareness of the importance of effective stakeholder engagement and of appropriate communication with employees, contractors, business partners, communities and affected stakeholders.
  • Knowledge sharing through case studies and simulated scenarios relevant to the Company’s business context, such as discrimination and harassment, bullying, fair labour practices, occupational health and safety, contractor management, community impacts, and ethical decision-making.
